OBJECTIVE

The aim of the action was to conduct a perception survey among the Maltese population. This included  the undertaking of focus group discussions among water consumers to elicit participant discussion and gather perceptions and attitudes of a mapping exercise of the main stakeholder and water users in the Malta River Basin District.  Another objective was  to identify stakeholder concerns and potential stakeholder conflicts which would need to be addressed during the implementation of the LIFE IP and the 2nd RBMP.

RESULTS

This action undertook a mapping exercise of the main stakeholder and water users in the Malta River Basin District. Following the stakeholder mapping exercise, perception surveys for each identified water user being the domestic, agriculture and business were designed with the support of an external consultant. This research was divided into two parts. Part 1 was the conduction of focus groups to collect qualitative data. All the qualitative results collected guided us in the development and collection of a subsequent nationwide representative survey.

The quantitative research helped us identify the main concerns and perceptions of water-users and stakeholders on the national water sector. Results gathered will help us address the concerns and potential stakeholder conflicts we will encounter during the implementation of the LIFE IP and the 2nd RBMP.
