Today, we celebrated Earth Day (22 April) at the Għajn National Water Conservation Awareness Centre with a fantastic visit from Year 5 students of Maria Regina College, Mellieħa Primary School. The students took part in the Water Hero Programme, an interactive digital game developed by the Energy and Water Agency, where they learned how everyday actions like fixing leaks, using efficient fittings, improving shower habits, and harvesting rainwater, can help protect Malta’s precious water resources. To mark Earth Day, students also designed creative posters with strong water-saving messages, helping them spread awareness beyond the classroom and into their homes and communities. By giving young learners the right tools and knowledge, we are helping shape responsible habits and inspiring the next generation to care for our planet!

This activity formed part of Action C4 of the LIFE-IP RBMP Project, led by the Energy and Water Agency. The action focuses on developing targeted water education initiatives, particularly for younger generations, to raise awareness about Malta’s limited water resources and encourage responsible water‑use behaviours among students and the wider public.
