Action A.2: Market research on water demand management technologies
The action will undertake a research and surveying exercise on the availability of water demand management technologies (including devices and appliances) for use by the main water using sectors in the Maltese Islands, namely the domestic, agricultural, commercial and touristic sectors and the infiltration of such technology in the local market. In particular,
the activity will focus on the assessment of water efficient and water recycling technology in all sectors. This action will seek to engage user-organisations and suppliers of technologies, in order to assess their expectations and concerns related to the tools necessary to induce a market-shift is support of water efficient technologies.
The main result of this action is a report presenting the baseline infiltration of water efficient technologies in the local market, and identifying opportunities for the introduction of innovative/alternative technologies to provide further options to users to
improve their water efficiency. The mapping of market infiltration will also enable an informed development of the national water-eco label scheme, by providing a cross-section of products for which the framework supporting the label would need to consider.
Deliverables for this action.
A report outlining the market infiltration rates of water efficient technologies in the Maltese Islands and outlining the potential alternative technologies which might be considered/supported to enhance their future infiltration in the market.
