From 26th January to 1st February 2026, staff from the Energy & Water Agency and GĦAJN – Educational Centre participated in Kurzita’ Jiem, the annual careers‑oriented initiative held at the ESPLORA Interactive Science Centre. The event aimed to inspire young learners by showcasing diverse career paths and connecting students with professionals working in STEAM fields—Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.

Engaging with 538 Students Through Real-World Water Science

Attendees had the opportunity to engage with a range of hands‑on activities and real technical demonstrations.

The stand featured:

  • Field equipment such as CTD Divers, multiparametric probes, and a bladder pump,
  • The Be‑Efficient educational lesson
  • Interactive games & workshop, including the Qatra Qatra game and other water‑themed activities
  • Għajn Educational Centre Team - We met enthusiastic students from across various schools, all eager to learn more about energy and water efficiency through diverse and inspiring programmes,
especially the infamous Fairly Hydrated Knight!
  • Informative videos highlighting how Malta monitors, manages, and protects its water resources

These resources helped illustrate the critical role of water professionals in safeguarding Malta’s environment and encouraged students to consider future careers in environmental monitoring, engineering, hydrology, and related disciplines.

Event Schedule and Participation

During the weekdays, Kurzita’ Jiem welcomed school groups visiting ESPLORA, with activities concluding each day at 1:00pm. Over the weekend, the event opened to the public from 10:00am to 5:00pm, allowing families and visitors of all ages to explore the stand freely and interact with the team. The high turnout offered a valuable platform for discussion, learning, and engagement, especially as many students expressed curiosity about water science and environmental careers.
